Why can't I send a link or phone number in my first message?
Bakkar help centre ·
In a first message to someone new, Bakkar doesn't send links, phone numbers or social media handles. They're fine once the other person replies.
The most common way a stranger scams or harasses someone is by moving them somewhere else fast: "add me on WhatsApp", "check my profile here", "call me". Holding these back until there's a reply means nobody can be pushed off Bakkar by a person they never answered.
Examples
| First message | What happens |
|---|---|
| hey! add me on insta @meera.travels | Held back until they reply |
| call me 98765 43210 | Held back until they reply |
| check this out www.example.com | Held back until they reply |
| my youtube channel youtube.com/@cookwithme | Held back until they reply |
| wa.me/919876543210 pe msg karo | Held back until they reply |
| hi! saw you like trekking too. done Kedarkantha? | Sent |
| telegram pe aa jao, wahan baat karte hain | Sent |
The last example gets through, because it has no link, number or handle in it. That's the limit of an automatic check: it can stop the easy cases, not every trick. If someone keeps pushing you to another app before you know them, treat it as a red flag (see "let's move to WhatsApp").
Where else the same check runs
- Buzz: posts and replies can never contain links, numbers or handles, because Buzz is anonymous.
- Addas: new members can share them after their first 24 hours in that Adda.
