How many new people can I message in a day?

You can start up to 20 new chats in any 24 hours. For the first 48 hours after you join, the limit is 8.
What counts
Only the first message you send to someone new counts. Chatting with people who already replied, replying to people who messaged you, and talking in Addas or on Buzz don't count towards it.
What happens at the limit
The app says "You've sent a lot of new messages today. Try again tomorrow." The window rolls: a first message you sent 24 hours ago stops counting, so you don't have to wait for midnight.
Why the limit exists
Almost all spam on chat apps comes from brand new accounts sending the same message to everyone they can reach. A lower limit for new accounts slows that down without getting in the way of real people, who rarely start more than a handful of new conversations a day.
