What is an Adda and how do I join one?
Bakkar help centre ·
An Adda is a group chat for people near you who share something: an area, a college, a hobby, a late-night habit.
Finding one
The Addas tab lists Addas within 50 km of you, or everywhere if you choose Global. Every big city starts with Foodies and Gamers Addas (see Bakkar in your city), and anyone can start more.
Before you join
Tap an Adda to see its photo, how many members it has, its area and interest, and its welcome note. The chat itself stays private to members: the app says "Join to read the chat and say hi. You can leave anytime."
Once you're in
- Send messages, photos and voice notes, reply to a message and react with emoji.
- Choose your notifications (see Adda notifications).
- Leave whenever you like from the Adda's menu with Leave Adda.
New members can share links and numbers after their first 24 hours in an Adda. That one rule stops most spam before it starts.
